Absolutely top notch shooter which is one of the few games that really show what the STE was capable of and the number of sprites on the screen at times is incredible but never a hint of slowdown. Visually it is a feast for the eyes with a wide variety of imaginative enemies which move in balletic precision across the screen and more colours on the screen than the ST has any right to display at once. Music by Jochen Hippel is fantastic too as well as the sound effects including lots of digitised sound. Not too keen on the mocking laugh when you die though seems like too much salt in the wound for what is already a mega tough game. A real tour de force and deserved to be more heralded than it was but it came late in the life of the ST but stands the test of time as a true great in the ST library.

Au debut on choisi le nombre de joueurs :
touches "A" et "Z" pour chosir son perso et "W" pour valider
dans le jeu à chaque fois que l'ecran flash il faut appuyer sur une touche
quand il y a un jet de dés : taper une touche
"1" et "2" pour se deplacer à droite ou a gauche et "3" pour valider
(pour certain sort c'est "4" pour sortir)
Quand vous lancer un sort il vous demande son numero (parmis une liste qu'il donne)
il faut valider avec "entrée"
"E" et "D" pour scroller les armes et objets
"Z" pour avoir les statistiques
et dans les stats :
"A" et "Q" pour scroller les armures
"Z" et "S" pour scroller les compagnons
"E" et "D" pour scroller les armes et objets
"espace " pour sortir des stats
parfois il vous pose une question. et vous propose comme reponse
de taper "1" pour OUI n'importe qu'elle autre touche sera pris pour NON

A few years ago (it seems like an eternity today), I met Cédric Bourse at a coding party over here in France. I was very impressed by his game Elansar for the Falcon and when I saw its sequel Philia, I was more than convinced this guy was an amazing programmer. I thought he was mostly interested in adventure games like Myst, but I was wrong: Orion_ (which is Cedric's nickname), has more tricks up his sleeve. An example is the amazing platformer Alice's Mom's Rescue (available for Windows, Linux, the Atari Falcon, the Jaguar CD and Android) which has quickly become one of my favorites. This game is superb and if you have never played it, check it out at once!
Now Cédric has just released a brand new game called Escape 2042. After publishing a full review, it was now time to talk to the creator. Tord Jansson was one of the programmers at the amazing Unique Developments Sweden. He helped to create 2 of the most iconic games during the final years of the ST's lifespan, Obsession and Substation. Tord was a member of UDS from the very beginning, up until its demise. During the years, Tord did not only work on ST games, he was also programmer and project lead on numerous other big budget titles for many systems. In 1980, Sir Clive Sinclair released the cheapest homecomputer ever made, the ZX80. Mr Sinclair was on a mission. He wanted to teach a generation how to program a computer. And it was a success. Nick Harper is a prime example. He started out on the ZX Spectrum, went on the create one of the best STOS games on the Atari ST and today he is a successful game developer who has worked for several big companies like Sony and Ubisoft, with numerous triple A titles on his resumé.
