In 1993, Matthieu and his friends witnessed Alien Breed on the Amiga. They wanted this game on the ST, but Matthieu had only programmed in BASIC. This wasn't good enough, so he started to learn assembler, and slowly, Alien Blast was created. It took a whole 3 years but by 1996, the game was released as shareware.
