An unreleased game by Psygnosis is now available!

December 16, 2005 by Brume

News illustration image Back in 1993: Psygnosis wanted to release a game entitled Indigo. It was nearly completed, but Psygnosis decided finally not to publish the game. While 12 years, Indigo stayed also at Stephane Belin's home (who is also the author of Outzone by Lankhor)...

Today in 2005: Stephane has finished with the help of Bertrand Jardel the Amiga port of the game. Since the ST was already completed, he decides to publish both freely!

Indio is a pure plateform game, with nice graphics, cool music and good gameplay. It's a little bit hard, but it's a good game! It's a shame Psygnosis didn't release it in 1993...

So here we are: the game may be downloaded here. You can also leave a comment on the same page.
Also don't forget to take a look at the author page and thank him on the forum ;-)

Enjoy this great Mega Demo!! It's a real pleasure to see such a megademo, which gathers old and new coders, graphists and musicians. That's the perfect example of the ST spirit!

Of course, feel free to discuss about it on the forum.

Desktop Configurator by Paradize released

November 22, 2005 by simonsunnyboy

News illustration image The Desktop Configurator has been released.

A small utility which allows you to select one of up to 10 individual DESKTOP.INF (or NEWDESK.INF) files from the AUTO folder of your harddisc so you can boot into a customtailored desktop, e.q. one for games, one for coding, one for tools,etc..

Check http://paradize.atari.org/

This tool only manages selection of the DESKTOP.INF and nothing more.
Most AUTO folder and DESKTOP.INF management tools offered too many unneeded features for me so I wrote this one. If it is of any use, feel free.

Alive 11 released

November 20, 2005 by Silver Surfer

News illustration image Finally Alive 11 is released. It features music by GwEm, Crazy Q / DHS and Marcer / Atari Legend / Elite. Like most of the times the stunning title picture was done by C-Rem/MJJ-Prod. Menu Graphics by Cyclone/X-Troll.

Alive comes bundled with a few releases again:

* Wolfenstein 3D by Ray / tSCc
* Alive Kolour Tagger (Debuged Version) by GGN / KÜA Software Productions
* Circle Fade Bootsector Sourcecode by GGN / KÜA Software Productions
* Overscan Sourcecodes by Alien / ST Connexion

Like always you can find these treasures (except for Wolfenstein 3D, which is simply too big) within the FILEZ folder of the disk, check it out!

It seems Wolfenstein 3D has some trouble with HD-Driver and Huschi, but it seems to work fine with the ICD Harddisk-Driver. Until Ray comes up with a fix to that problem I recommend using a RAMdisk to play it.

News nicked from the Alive website!

The screen was part of the un-released BBC megademo.

Random review

Brataccas made use of the 4 colors, ST medium-resolution (640x200), something unusual for action or graphic adventure games. The graphics look like they were ported from the Spectrum QL, not only for the limited number of colors, but also because of the small area of the screen used.

Did you know?

What does ST stand for? Some people believe it is an abbreviation of "Sam Tramiel", head of Atari. Others say it is short for "16 32", cause the ST was the first in a line of 16 - 32 bit computers by Atari!
